Here are some general guidelines for using candles safely:

1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch to prevent excessive smoking and soot buildup.
2. Place on a Heat-Resistant Surface: Always place candles on a heat-resistant surface and away from flammable materials.
3. Keep Away from Drafts: Avoid placing candles in drafty areas to prevent uneven burning and potential accidents.
4. Never Leave Unattended: Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep them out of reach of children and pets.
5. Burn in Intervals: For the first burn, allow the wax to melt across the entire surface to prevent tunneling. Subsequently, burn candles for no more than 4 hours at a time.
6. Extinguish Properly: Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid blowing the candle, as this can cause hot wax to splatter.
7. Store Candles Safely: Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
8. Discontinue Use at 1/2 Inch: Stop burning a candle when there is about 1/2 inch of wax remaining to prevent the container from overheating.
